SYNOPSIS

Texan rancher Bick Benedict visits a Maryland farm to buy a prize horse. Whilst there he meets and falls in love with the owner’s daughter Leslie, they are married immediately and return to his ranch. The story of their family and its rivalry with cowboy and (later oil tycoon) Jett Rink unfolds across two generations..

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Stevens is an American director, screenwriter and producer. Initially a director of photography, his first success as director came with Alice Adams in 1935. His career comes to a halt during the Second World War when he enlisted in a film unit in the US Army Signal Corps. A respected director within the Hollywood industry, he won Academy Awards for Best Director for A Place in the Sun (1951) and Giant (1956).
