Midge owns a gas station in the small coal-mining town of Laybell. When a friendly young man from out of town and his girlfriend stop by, her peaceful world is plunged into chaos. Just the first of two encounters, Midge meets the man again, this time a captive in his own car in the woods of Laybell.

Marie SCHLINGMANN is a NY-based director and screenwriter from Berlin, Germany. Most recently, she wrote/produced the short The Mink Catcher (Telluride, SXSW) and wrote/directed the short Canary with her filmmaking partner Samantha BUCK. They are currently in development on their first fiction feature. Marie is a graduate of Columbia University’s School of the Arts, where she was a recipient of the David Jones Memorial Award and the ASCAP Scoring Fellowship.
