On the way back home, the master and the valet walk by the mausoleum of a Commander killed by Dom Juan the year before and he invites the statue for diner that same evening. Back home, he postpones the diner three times after the unannounced visits of his creditor, his father and his wife, now back to the religious life. The Commander’s statue, arrived last and refuses to share its meal but invites him back the next day. The next afternoon, Dom Juan tells his father who is delighted that he has decided to go back to religion, then confides in Sganarelle that this sudden turnaround is a ploy to cover himself of all possible annoyance.
