Alain is dying on a rubber boat, alone in the middle of the ocean. He tries in vain to formulate his last wills aloud, but his body and his mind are about to let go. 50 days earlier, on October 18, 1952, Alain was leaving the Canary Islands aboard his boat, "The Heretic", for a crossing of the Atlantic and to prove to the world that a castaway can survive at sea without food or reserves of water. This film is inspired by the adventure attempted in 1952 by Alain Bombard.
